Flo Hernandez, known as one of the hottest young comics today, is taking the nation by storm delivering a fast paced, high energy stand-up routine that crosses all cultural, ethnic and economic boundaries. Named 2010 Funniest Comic in Texas and recently featured on Chris Spencer’s Minority Report on Showtime this past summer, Hernandez has been compared by critics to the late Latino comedy great Freddy Soto.

Early Life
Florencio Hernandez or Flo, was born in Dallas, Texas, on March 2, 1975 to proud Mexican-American parents and was raised in Oak Cliff in the heart of his Latino roots. As an only child, he was always looking to be the center of attention at home and on the playground. At the age of five creativity and imitation began flowing in his blood when his mother bought him a set of stuffed animals that he gave personalities to and formed friendships with. On the school yard, he was your over the top class clown, always exaggerating the last act by falling down or running into desks. His goal was to always make the class laugh.

At age 12, he truly knew he wanted to succeed as a stand-up comedian after being mesmerized by the movie RAW with Eddie Murphy. The concept that one guy on a stage with a stool and a microphone could create so much energy instilled in him the desire to do that one day. At 18, Hernandez continued to receive confirmation that comedy was definitely in his future when he purchased a tape of George Lopez’s comedy, and would listen to it waiting for the end to hear the audience’s reaction. The applause at the end of the routine always gave him goose bumps.

After failing summer school, the summer after his intended high school graduation date, Hernandez decided to get his GED and start new in community college and attempted it for two years. He realized that school wasn’t for him and took on a 9-5 job and remained in the corporate world until the age of 28. After being fired for the second time, he decided that comedy is where he needed to be. “When the second firing happened, stated Hernandez”, I smiled and said ‘you all may not see me here one more day but you all will see me on TV.’

Career
Gaining a multi-cultural fan base, Flo is known for his signature "Paleta Man", "Garage Sale" and "Taco Salad" routines, always audience favorites. Today, he is building a comedy tidal wave in clubs and cities across the southwest. In 2003, Flo began his comedy career, after attending a 12-week stand-up comedy class and being dismissed in three because his instructor told him he was ready. Hernandez began that year in Austin, Texas debuting at the Capital City Comedy Club. Five years later, Hernandez found himself moving to LA on Valentine’s Day of 2008 after being discovered by well-known comedian/actor Paul Rodriguez at a show in (city). The big move brought Hernandez his first TV debut on VH-1 on Bill Bellamy’s Who’s Got Jokes. He then became popular with major clubs like the Hollywood Improv and was a guest on Def Comedy Jam. Hernandez started The Flo Hernandez Morning Show over internet radio then went and joined other morning shows in the DFW area as a morning personality.

In the spring of 2010, Hernandez put comedy on the map when he won 2010 Funniest Comic in Texas which led him to be discovered by great comedian Chris Spencer and got him in to Spencer’s Showtime comedy special “The Minority Report.” In his nine years of comedy, Hernandez has performed in many comedy clubs throughout the nation and is back streaming online with his nighttime radio show Go With the Flo Show. Every other Thursday night, you can find him on the stage at his new home base Service Bar, and taking his show on the road on the weekends to other big cities around the map like Miami, Las Vegas and Los Angeles.

Personal
Hernandez is single and is currently living in Duncanville, Texas. He moved from LA back to Texas when he received the news about his mother having ovarian cancer this summer. On Aug. 1, she passed away and her death has pushed Hernandez to continue even stronger in the comedy scene and more.
